Mescalin found in ‘Ritalin’ sample
A white powder sample expected to contain ‘ritalin’, was actually found to contain 3,4,5-trimethoxyphenethylamine (commonly known as ‘mescalin’).
What is mescalin? It’s a psychedelic that has a moderate risk of toxicity if it’s combined with any other drug that interacts with
serotonin receptors (like other psychedelics, some cathinones and other drugs like 2C-B).
Effects of mescalin can include euphoria, nausea, muscle tension, confusion and anxiety. If it’s combined with other psychedelics or stimulants the subjective experience can be intense and overwhelming, and there’s a significant physical risk if mescalin is combined with Tramadol. Effects of mescalin can be long-acting up to 8-14hrs.
Test your stuff! We’re issuing this community notice because the expected drug and the actual drug found are significantly different – they don’t even belong to the same category (ritalin is a stimulant and mescalin is a psychedelic) – surprise trips can be often be challenging.
