[Tablets containing high dose (equal or greater than 2x standard dose) of MDMA]

A Hello Kitty and a Pop Smoke MDMA pill were tested recently.

Both pills contained MDMA, but the amount was 229 mg (Hello Kitty) and 230 mg (Pop Smoke).

A common dose of MDMA is between 80-120 mg.

This means the amount of MDMA in these pills is significantly more than the amount a person may usually expect to take.

Risks

You increase your risk of harm if you:

• Take multiple MDMA (ecstasy) pills or
  capsules
• Take a higher-dose MDMA pill or capsule
• Use other stimulant drugs (e.g. amphetamines or cocaine) at the same time
• Take MDMA in a hot environment like a music festival or indoor dance party
• Use MDMA with some prescription drugs
  (such as antidepressants)

High-dose MDMA use has been linked to death and other serious harms.

Know the signs of serotonin toxicity or ‘Serotonin Syndrome’

• Feeling uncomfortably hot and sweaty
• Racing heart rate/pulse
• Light-headedness
• Rigid muscles (e.g. difficulty walking), uncontrolled repetitive movements, or seizures
• Confusion or agitation, feeling aggressive, difficult to rouse or unconscious
• Vomiting

If you or others experience these symptoms after taking MDMA, get help immediately.

Harm Reduction Tips

• Test it before you take it
• Start low and go slow
• Stay hydrated and keep cool
• Stay in the shade, use a cold compress, slow down and take breaks from dancing etc.
• Experiencing adverse or unexpected effects? Ask for help and don’t take more.

If you think someone has overdosed, call ‘000’ immediately. You won’t get into trouble for seeking medical care.
