A common dose of MDMA is between 80-120mg.

This means the amount of MDMA in these pills is significantly more than the amount a person may usually expect to take.

The amount of MDMA in every pill or cap will vary a lot, even if they appear similar or are from the same batch or source.

Risks

You increase your risk of harm by:

• taking multiple MDMA (ecstasy) pills or caps
• taking a higher-dose MDMA pill or cap
• taking MDMA with other stimulants (e.g. amphetamines or cocaine)
• using in a hot environment like a music festival or indoor dance part
• taking MDMA with some prescription drugs (especially antidepressants)

High-dose MDMA use has been linked to death and other serious harms.

Know the signs of serotonin toxicity and hyperthermia

Both conditions are serious medical emergencies.

Signs to look for:

• Feeling uncomfortably hot and sweaty
• Racing heart rate/pulse
• Light-headedness
• Rigid muscles (e.g. difficulty walking), uncontrolled repetitive movements, or seizures
• Confusion or agitation, feeling aggressive, difficult to rouse or unconscious
• Vomiting

If you or others experience these symptoms after taking MDMA, get help immediately.

Harm Reduction Tips

• Test it before you take it.
• Start low and go slow-start with ½ or less of your usual dose.
• Stay hydrated with water and electrolytes- avoid over hydrating (no more than 500ml/hour while active or 250ml/hour at rest).
• Keep cool- take regular breaks in the shade and use a cold compress.
• Experiencing adverse or unexpected effects? Ask for help and avoid taking more.

If you think someone has overdosed, call ‘000’ immediately. You won’t get into trouble for seeking medical care.
