4-fluoroamphetamine & 25C-NBOME found in ‘2C-B’ sample
A white powder sample contained in a clear capsule presented as 2C-B found to contain 4-fluoroamphetamine (4-FA) and 25C-NBOMe. The sample was obtained by the service user in Melbourne and is the second time this combination has been detected at CanTEST.
What is a 4-FA/25C-NBOMe combination? 4-FA is an amphetamine with some similar effects to MDMA, however the onset takes longer and lasts longer than MDMA and provides less of the desired MDMA effects. 25C-NBOMe is a potent hallucinogen. It belongs to a class of powerful stimulants (phenethylamines). Often referred to as ‘synthetic LSD’ but of considerably higher toxicity.
Individually, these drugs have caused deaths. Combined, the dangers are increased. The combination of these drugs was associated with four deaths in Melbourne in 2017, other deaths overseas and many hospitalisations. This combination presents a significant danger if consumed and was concerningly sold as 2C-B.
Reducing the harm
Test your stuff! Effects of this combination could include agitation, vivid hallucinations, seizures, high temperature, kidney & other organ failure, heart attack, and stroke. Come and see us at CanTEST – it’s free and confidential.
Don’t use alone. Make sure your friends know what you were planning on using.
Start low and go slow. Even a small dose can be fatal or cause a seizure. Start with a quarter of your ‘usual’ dose. The risk of harm from 25C-NBOMe increases when snorting, injecting or shelving.
Know the signs. Call an ambulance (000) immediately if you see warning signs of unexpected reactions to drugs.
