What is 4-CMC?

• 4-Chloromethcathinone (4-CMC) is a cathinone stimulant, also known as clephedrone
• 4-CMC effects are different to the effects of 4-MMC (mephedrone)
• If you are expecting 4-MMC (mephedrone) but take 4-CMC, you may believe the substance isn’t working, and take more
• High doses of 4-CMC can be unpredictable and dangerous

Risks:

High doses of 4-CMC can lead to long periods of unwanted stimulation. This can include:

• Sleeplessness
• Anxiety or agitation
• Paranoia and hallucinations
• Nausea and vomiting
• Heart problems

Risks are increased with other stimulant drugs like MDMA, methamphetamine, or cocaine.

Seek medical help immediately if you experience:

• Overly fast heart rate or chest pain
• Agitation, anxiety, paranoia, or hallucinations
• Overheating
• Vomiting repeatedly
• Collapse or seizures

Harm reduction advice:

• Start low, go slow. Delayed or different effects could be a sign of unexpected ingredients like 4-CMC
• If the effects are not as expected, don’t take more
• Stay cool, take breaks from the heat, stay hydrated
• Make sure you’re in a safe environment and with people you trust
• Call triple zero ‘000’ if you are concerned
