Our mission

The primary objective of The Know is to provide clear and timely information about emerging drugs of concern for consumers, clinicians and harm reduction service providers. New drugs, and new formulations of existing drugs, can pose a health risk to the people that use them. Timely access to information about emerging drugs of concern supports consumers and communities to reduce the risk of harm. In Australia, warnings and alerts about emerging drugs and emerging drug trends are generated at the state or territory level. The Know compiles all state and territory alerts to create a national overview of emerging drugs of concern.

About the Prompt Response Network

The Know is a project of the Prompt Response Network (PRN), a project to share information about emerging drugs of concern and enable rapid responses to reduce harm associated with them.

The PRN is a collaboration between government departments, clinicians, consumers, harm reduction service providers, academics and other key stakeholders across Australia’s states and territories.

The PRN is led by the National Centre for Clinical Research on Emerging Drugs (NCCRED). is funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, through the NCCRED Consortium.
